Media & Press

For journalists, researchers and industry professionals covering online recruiting, job scams, employer impersonation, candidate experience, job distribution and application transparency.

JAIP is a free public-service initiative. The Project is currently developing its long-term organizational, governance and funding structure and is not currently representing itself as an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organization.

About the Job Application Integrity Project

The Job Application Integrity Project, or JAIP, works to improve transparency, accountability and trust in the online employment marketplace. JAIP supports responsible job distribution and the important role played by authorized, reputable employers, recruiters, job boards, advertising partners, search engines, aggregators and recruiting technology providers.

JAIP's focus is on application integrity: whether job seekers can understand who is behind an opportunity, where their information is going, and whether an application represented as going to a particular employer actually reaches that employer or an authorized recruiting representative.

Founder

Founder

Paul Cornell

Paul Cornell founded JAIP after more than 35 years working in recruiting and interviewing thousands of job seekers. His experience has provided a firsthand view of the emotional and financial challenges people can face while looking for work and the growing challenges employers face protecting their brands, controlling application paths and ensuring qualified candidates actually reach them.

JAIP grew from his belief that reputable third-party recruiting and distribution partners can add substantial value, while authorization, transparency, accountability and verifiable application delivery should remain fundamental expectations.

Why job seekers may struggle to understand who posted a job, where Apply goes and who receives their information.

Employer impersonation and brand misuse

How fake recruiters, copied jobs and unauthorized third parties can affect candidates and employers.

Responsible third-party job distribution

The value reputable recruiters, job boards, advertising partners, search engines, aggregators and technology providers can create when authorization and transparency are clear.

Candidate trust and experience

The emotional, financial and practical consequences of confusing, misleading or exploitative application processes.

Application-path research

How online jobs can be traced from the authoritative employer posting through discovery channels to the final application destination.

Future verification standards

What an evidence-based Verified Application Path program could eventually measure, and why support must remain separate from verification decisions.

Press-ready background

Job Application Integrity Project boilerplate

The Job Application Integrity Project is a free public-service initiative working to improve transparency, accountability and trust in the online employment marketplace. JAIP supports responsible job distribution and the important role played by authorized, reputable employers, recruiters, job boards, advertising partners, search engines, aggregators and recruiting technology providers. The Project is developing standards, research, educational resources and reporting tools designed to help ensure that job seekers can understand who is behind an opportunity, where their information is going and whether their application reaches the employer or authorized recruiting representative they intended to reach.

Research, data and sources

JAIP's research approach distinguishes observable evidence from inference. Government sources are prioritized for fraud and loss data; platform policies document what major job marketplaces themselves require; and industry research is clearly attributed to its source and population.

Journalists and researchers can use JAIP's JAIP Facts and Research & Source Library as a starting point for source-traceable background.
